I totally agree with this post. For true geeks, frameworks don't usually make sense. They offer layers of abstraction that a coder could implement themselves more seemingly. They overcomplicate projects. Most of them aren't scalable.
In fact, if you want to make the next "BIG" site, you'd probably not want to use a framework, because most are not scalable. Most frameworks are not lightweight. Maybe there is a conspiracy in place to prevent a developer creating the next big app.
For a generic CRUD application, a framework is probably the way to go. ANything more flexible than that, probably not.
