Ooops, there went something terribly wrong with the script code. I forgot to escape the < and > characters! Now here is the complete script.

#! /bin/sh
if (($#<2)); then
	echo "usage:"
	echo -e "\t$0 SRC DST"
	exit 1
else
	for (( i=1; i < $#; i++ ))
	do
		pv "${@:${i}:1}" > "${!#}/${@:${i}:1}"
	done
fi
