Concerning MPC/Real|Quicktime Alternative, I would not recommend them: I installed them in 2006/2007 on 2 XP laptops... and uninstall (I now only use VLC) screw several windows components: WMI, windows update... maybe more.
No solution from microsoft help database concerning reported error nb worked and reinstall the machine from a previous dd save was the only solution... and avoid to supress them in future.
