I find VirtualBox to be as good if not better than VMware Workstation, although there may be some areas where the latter still have an advantage. However, you can't beat the price :-)

Also, use ImDisk to create a RAM drive on which to put your temporary files.

I was using VMWare before,, but I couldn't find same tool I used before on thier site..

Now settled for VirtualBox on my newly built XP box. I used Linux, Win2000 on it works great.
