I am being sponsored by Syntress since 2007! They bought me an amazing dedicated server to run catonmat on. If you're looking web services in Chicago area, I highly recommend the Syntress guys!
I love to read science books. They make my day and I get ideas for awesome blog posts, such as Busy Beaver, On Functors, Recursive Regular Expressions and many others.
Take a look at my
Amazon wish list, if you're curious about what I have planned reading next, and want to surprise me. :)

... but why should one ever remember crypted bash/zsh/ksh/... syntax and it's subtle differences _iff_ script languages like perl, python, _guarantee_ an abstraction level _plus_ simplifying all those tasks _plus_ adding syntactic sugar (in a _per_language_ and not _per_platform_) consistent manner?
i do honor the effort and i do honor being able to accomplish a lot of solutions w/ the most basic tools, _but_ i prefer to be able to move to solaris and not have to reinvent everything again
regards
