I've yet to encounter a framework that isn't more trouble than it's worth.

A framework may make it initially seem like you are making progress fast - but it will almost certainly bite you in the arse.

I don't see how a framework is ever a good substitute for building your own codebase.

Anyone can learn a language and so use a framework. But having a comprehensive codebase of your own is what makes you a capable programmer and problem solver.

If you are solving problems using frameworks then you are designing programmatic bumble bees. They might be persuaded to fly but you'll never deliver the best solutions.
