Another string manipulation, easy to remember: reverse

$ perl -le '$_=q{dlrow olleh}; print scalar reverse;'
hello world

/usr/bin/tac does it by lines, like 'cat' but reversing the file. Perl reverse() can work with scalar, list (the default) and hash variables.
