Varun, you can set environment variable:

$ http_proxy="http://www.someproxy.com:3128"
$ export http_proxy

and then run the application that uses xgoogle.

Other way is to edit xgoogle/browser.py file and add

urllib2.ProxyHandler({'http':'www.someproxy.com:3128'})

to list of handlers.
